Numbers in Position is a design house specializing in both print and motion graphics. It was founded in 2004 by creative director Lucien Yang. Our mission is to work with clients to balance the conceptual with the commercial to find the perfect design solution—to create work that serves marketing purposes while pushing creative boundaries.
After years spent working in the music industry designing album covers, Yang enrolled in a graduate program at Central Saint Martins where he received a master’s degree focused on graphic/communication design. Upon graduation in 1998, he moved to New York City where he worked at such motion graphics firms as Lee Hunt Associates, Razorfish, Imaginary Forces, Gretel and with TV channels like VH1 and Showtime. He has been awarded by AICP and Promax/BDA for his broadcast and commercial work.
Throughout this time he continued working in print. He has won awards for his covers and packaging designs for the Criterion Collection, a prestigious home video company with which he’s had a long working relationship. He has designed posters and packaging for Kino, Zeitgeist, Oscilloscope, and Cinema Guild among other film distributors, as well as working directly with filmmakers.
Numbers in Position is located in Bushwick, Brooklyn NY.
